Davido Submits ‘Oriade’, Five Songs for 2027 Grammy Awards Consideration

Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido has entered his sixth studio album, Oriade, and five songs for consideration at the 2027 Grammy Awards, giving the singer another opportunity to compete for his first Grammy win.

The submissions were disclosed by The Grammy Guru as the Recording Academy’s first-round voting period got underway. The entries span several categories, including Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best African Music Performance and Best Music Video.

Davido’s Oriade was submitted for Album of the Year, Best Global Music Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Album Cover.

Among the individual songs submitted is “B4 B4” featuring Mayorkun and FOLA, which was entered for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

Another submission is “Nakupenda”, featuring South African duo TxC alongside Zlatan, Shoday, Scotts Maphuma and Al Xapo. The song was entered for Song of the Year and Best African Music Performance.

Davido also submitted “Le Show” featuring Ayra Starr and French Montana for Best African Music Performance, while “I Know Who I Be” featuring JAZZWRLD and GL_Ceejay was entered for Best Music Video.

Another Grammy Push for Davido

The submissions come after Davido received three Grammy nominations for the 2024 awards, where Timeless was nominated for Best Global Music Album, “Feel” for Best Global Music Performance and “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys for Best African Music Performance. He subsequently received another nomination for “Sensational” with Chris Brown and Lojay and was nominated again for “With You” featuring Omah Lay.

Despite his previous nominations, Davido has yet to win a Grammy. His latest submissions therefore put several of his recent recordings back into contention as the Academy begins the process of determining the nominees for the 69th annual ceremony.

Importantly, submission does not equal nomination. The Recording Academy’s voting members will determine which entries advance to the final nominations.

First-round voting for the 2027 Grammys is scheduled to run from October 12 to October 22, with nominations expected to be announced on November 16. The 69th Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 7, 2027, in Los Angeles.
