Mr Eazi Reveals How He Missed Opportunity to Meet Jay-Z

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has explained how a prior concert commitment prevented him from meeting American rapper and business mogul Jay-Z at an event connected to Beyoncé’s 2019 project, The Lion King: The Gift.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Focus on Africa, the singer described Jay-Z as his “North Star” in music and entrepreneurship, admitting that meeting the music mogul would have been a significant moment for him.

Mr Eazi said he was invited to a small gathering around the premiere of the Lion King project, where Jay-Z was expected to be present. However, he had already been booked and paid to perform at a concert on the same date.

Rather than cancel the performance, Mr Eazi honoured his existing commitment to the audience, which he estimated would include about 8,000 fans.

“I had a show. They had already paid me. There was going to be like 8,000 fans coming there to watch me,” he recalled, explaining why he decided to perform instead of attending the gathering.

The singer added that he had not given up hope of meeting Jay-Z in the future, saying he believed the opportunity would come if it was meant to happen.

Although Mr Eazi had contributed to Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift project, he said he had still not met her husband, whom he admires for his achievements in both music and business.
