Wizkid Becomes First African Artist to Surpass 12 Billion Spotify Streams
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Wizkid has reportedly become the first African artist to surpass 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, extending his record as Africa’s most-streamed artist on the platform.
The milestone was reported on Monday, October 26, 2026, with streaming data attributed to music statistics platform WizStatz. The figure includes streams from songs on which Wizkid is credited as a lead artist or featured performer.
Wizkid Continues to Set Spotify Records
The latest achievement extends a remarkable run of streaming milestones for the Starboy.
Wizkid became the first African artist to reach 10 billion Spotify streams in January 2026 before crossing the 11-billion mark in May. He has now added another billion to that record within the same year.
His total includes major international collaborations as well as his solo catalogue. One of the biggest contributors to his global streaming profile is “One Dance” with Drake and Kyla, which became a landmark international hit following its release in 2016.
‘One Dance’ Remains a Major Milestone
Wizkid’s contribution to Drake’s “One Dance” helped introduce his sound to an even wider international audience.
The song went on to become one of Spotify’s biggest records, while Wizkid’s continued streaming performance has helped establish him as one of Africa’s most commercially successful artists globally.
His catalogue also includes major songs such as “Essence” featuring Tems and “Ojuelegba,” alongside projects including Made in Lagos and Morayo.
Another Landmark for Afrobeats
Wizkid’s 12-billion-stream achievement comes less than a year after his 10-billion milestone, underlining the continued strength of his catalogue on streaming platforms.
The achievement also adds to a series of African streaming records held by the singer, with Wizkid having now crossed 10 billion, 11 billion and 12 billion Spotify streams as the first African artist to reach each mark.
It further underscores the global reach of Afrobeats and Wizkid’s role in taking Nigerian music to international audiences.
